Live Review: Mona at The Orpheum Theater 11/19/11

Mona, a four piece rock band hailing from Nashville, TN, had a hard job on this cold Saturday night in Boston. They had to warm up this crowd of 2,700 people for The Airborne Toxic Event. They took the stage by storm with so much energy that you couldn't take your eyes off of them. Their set felt short but sweet and full of fun, energetic, straight up rock. The lighting at the Orpheum isn't always the best, but they still shone bright through the dimness. This band reminded me a lot of Kings of Leon, which says a lot since they are one of my favorites. They play the same kind of edgy-rock and possess the same 'in your face' stage mentality that can't be denied.

The stand-out song of their set was absolutely "Lean Into The Fall". Lead singer Nick Brown croons and screams like he really means it. I really loved the piercing drums and melodic chorus. They mentioned this would be their next single, and I would look out for that song as well as this band because they are going places for sure!
